A School Rebuilt, a Community Reunited

2026 marks a truly special new chapter for Tumbulgum Public School.

Following the devastating floods and the challenges our school community has faced over the past few years, the return to our beautiful new school facilities is about so much more than new buildings. It represents resilience, hope, and the strength of our community.

On 2 September 2026, we celebrate the official opening of our new school — a moment that belongs to every student, family, staff member and community member who has supported Tumbulgum along the way.

The new classrooms and facilities provide a fresh place for our students to learn, grow, laugh and make memories.

This year, we have seen our school community come back together, our students flourish and a new sense of excitement return to our school grounds.

Small Schools Ball Games Carnival

One of the most exciting parts of returning to our new school grounds is being able to open our gates and share them with the wider community.

This year, Tumbulgum Public School is incredibly proud to host the Small Schools Ball Games Carnival — bringing students, families and schools from across our local community together for a day of fun, friendship and friendly competition.

After everything our school community has been through, there is something particularly special about seeing our new grounds filled with children running, playing, cheering and connecting once again.

This carnival is more than just a sporting event. It is an opportunity to celebrate our new school, showcase what our community has rebuilt, and welcome our neighbouring small schools into our new home.

We can't wait to see our grounds come alive with the energy and excitement of the carnival, and to share this very special new chapter of Tumbulgum Public School with the local community.

🖤💛❤️ Celebrating NAIDOC Day at Tumbulgum

Tumbulgum came alive with culture and connection during our NAIDOC Day celebration, led by the inspiring Uncle Jason. Students and staff gathered to honour Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander history, culture, and achievements through a rich day of activities. We began with a powerful smoking ceremony, cleansing the space and welcoming everyone with respect. The children then explored traditional painting using natural materials, creating meaningful artworks grounded in Country. Uncle Jason shared captivating stories and language, deepening our understanding of First Nations wisdom and ways of life. It was a day of pride, learning, and unity — a beautiful reminder of the strength and spirit woven into our shared journey.
