Wednesday 2nd September was a very special day for Tumbulgum Public School as we officially opened our beautiful new school building.

It was honestly quite overwhelming to look around and see such an incredible turnout of current families, former students and staff, community members and special guests who came together to celebrate this important milestone with us.

The new building represents such an exciting new chapter for our school, providing wonderful new spaces for our students to learn, grow and thrive. More than that, it was a chance to celebrate the history, resilience and strong community spirit that makes Tumbulgum Public School so special.

We would like to extend our heartfelt thanks to everyone who took the time to join us. Seeing so many familiar faces, meeting people who have been part of our school's story over many generations, and sharing this moment with our community made the occasion incredibly memorable.

Thank you for helping us celebrate this exciting new chapter for Tumbulgum Public School. We are incredibly proud of our new school and so excited for what the future holds.

The Tumbulgum Public School difference

Small school. Big community.

Tumbulgum Public School is a small school where nobody’s a stranger. Our parents know each other by name (and you’ll probably run into them at the post office). We’re proud of our connection to the Bundjalung community and the stretch of river we call home. At Tumby, students become part of a community that cares for one another and feels like home. When the school day ends, students spend time by the river, fishing at the boat ramp and enjoying the very reasons we love living here.

The thing about our local school is our teachers get the time to notice the important things that make school feel like home. They know exactly who needs a little bit of extra support and who’s ready to be pushed further. We understand how to inspire each student to do their best and follow their passions.

A fresh start. A bright future.

After the 2022 floods, the whole community helped bring our school back. It has been rebuilt with modern learning facilities and raised so it is ready to handle whatever the river throws at it next. We have preserved everything our community loves about Tumby, and we are surrounded by natural beauty. It's the best of both worlds: a state-of-the-art school in a unique riverside setting, with the warmth, values, and community spirit that have always defined Tumby Public School.

On behalf of our school community, I welcome you to Tumbulgum Public School.

At Tumbulgum Public school, we offer a small school setting set on beautiful school grounds, catering for a diverse range of learners. Our team consist of high-quality staff extensively trained to support our students both academically and emotionally.

I believe that students thrive and learn to the best of their ability when they feel happy and safe at school. As principal, I promote positivity in all that I do. I build genuine relationships with my students and ensure that every child in my care in known, valued and cared for.

Tumbulgum Public school works collaboratively with the wider community, particularly our Aboriginal community, to maximise the benefits and learning outcomes of all students.

We are proud of our wonderful school with over 150 years of history and I encourage and welcome anyone interested in enrolling to come and see me any time as my door is always open.
